Growing Number of Uninsured in the U.S.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were a total of 46.6 million Americans without health insurance coverage in 2005, up from 45.3 million in 2004. That number represents 15.9 % of the U.S. population, not far from 1998’s peak figure of 16.3%.

The fact that individual insurance costs are sky high may have something to do with it. As healthcare costs continue to rise, employers are dropping health benefits for workers in an attempt to mitigate these costs.

Here at healthinsurance.info, we’re aware of this problem, and doing our part to help.
